This is from way back in maybe 2005 or 2006? The Battletoads were a gang of anthropomorphic toads that were TMNT knock-offs. In fact, according to the ‘Toad’s own advertising campaign, they “make Turtles look like pond scum.”
But it never made sense to me that they would be enemies! Both are groups of toadally radical reptiles from the early 1990s, with mondo heapings of fabuloso surfer slang. Tubular!
And the Battletoads once teamed up with Billy and Jimmy Lee, the Double Dragon brothers. In my mind, that makes them open to inter-franchise team-ups. So why not their pizza-loving predecessors, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
So that’s what I did. And I think it turned out about as well as I could have done, for the time that I drew this. I’ve actually seen this pop up on Pinterest and other similar sites a few times when I do Google searches for Battletoads images, which means some random people out there like this…and that makes me disappointed in myself for not signing it! D’oh!
Anyways, this one was a fun concept and possibly even more fun to make.
