I made this stupid joke graphic back in 2016 when the iPhone 7 was announced, and Apple said they were doing away with the 1/8″ headphone jack. Additionally, the iPhone, unlike Google’s Android phones, would not have a place for any sort of expandable memory such as MicroSD cards.
Also, I ALWAYS find it funny that the North America Sega Genesis Model 1 has “High Definition Graphics” tampographed right on that big circle part, especially since “High Definition” has a whole different meaning in the 21st century.
Granted, as I type this post in 2021, I’m listening to music on my iPhone X using bluetooth headphones, and my entire music collection of hundreds of CDs and downloaded albums is all stored on the device. So, as usual, Apple was able to see the future of technology and ended up with the last laugh.
This is just like when Apple left floppy disc drives out of the original iMac in 1998, or when they stopped putting optical disc drives in their computers, starting with the MacBook Air in 2008.
Although, I guess the question remians, is Apple predicting the future of tech, or are they guiding it? I don’t have the answer, it’s just something to ponder.
